Yes! It's time for you to get your Master Electrician License and pull your permits AND get a raise!
There are 3 steps you have to take in order to make this happen. It's not hard, many journeymen electricians have done this but now it's your turn.
Step 1 Apply for the master electrician license
Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations (TDLR) requires an application which is linked above. Fill out the form entirely however, do not leave anything out. In case you have a criminal background, include that and any pertinent documents to your application. Leaving blanks in the application may cause a delay in processing.
The application has a $45 fee.
On the job training hours requirement is 12,000 hours. Get your work history put together ahead of time because this will save you time. The application includes an employment history form.
Step 2 Pass the master electrician license exam
We can help you pass the Texas Electrical Exam with a fool-proof system... EVERYONE passes! Our powerful two-day weekend seminar teaches a system that helps you understand the way PSI expects to see an answer. Not only are you being tested on your 'field skills', you are also tested on your 'testing skills'. Our seminars are conducted in an intimate setting therefore we focus on YOU. Our system is most effective when followed completely but you do have the opportunity to only take what you need out of our system.
TDLR only gives you one year to pass this test. Do not take too long to pass this because you will have to resubmit the application. This starts the process from the beginning. Note that PSI Exams is the exam administrator contracted with TDLR.
If you fail the exam, PSI will give you a score report with a breakdown. This breakdown tells you what subject areas you missed. Save this score report so you can study for your retake!
When you pass the exam, PSI sends a notification to TDLR which will take you to step 3!
Step 3 Get your master electrician license
In this final step all you have to do is check your mail for your license! TDLR updates your record on their database showing you as a Master Electrician.
Many electricians overthink this process and keep themselves from moving forward. There is no reason why you can't excel in your career. We can help you get there. Read all about our exam prep seminars in Texas here.
