Candidate Information Bulletin.

Today we received a call from someone asking us the phone number to the PSI so they can change their appointment.  While we don't do the actual exams here, we are more than happy to help 🙂  We put together a cheat blog with the link to the ECIB, Table of Contents, FAQ's, and some shameless marketing for our seminars and books.  (I'd be a terrible business person if I didn't add a couple of sales links 😉

Must have formulas for your electrical exam

Feel free to share this page with any Texas electrician preparing for their exam. This will come in handy.

The Electrical Candidate Information Bulletin can be found here.  You may download and save it, print it or just read it online. Make sure to bookmark this link so you can refer to it during your studies.

National Electrical Code®, 2014 Edition

Candidates are responsible for bringing their own references to the examination center. Reference materials may be highlighted, underlined and/or indexed prior to the examination session. Brief descriptive notes for the purpose of indicating text, tables or areas of special importance are allowed. However, reference materials containing lengthy notes will not be allowed into the examination. When in doubt, you should bring reference materials that do not contain markings. Any candidate caught writing, highlighting, underlining and/or indexing in the references during the examination will be reported to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. Furthermore, candidates are not permitted to bring in any additional papers (loose or attached) with their approved references.

Tabs

References may be tabbed/indexed with permanent tabs only. (permanent tabs are defined as tabs that would tear the page if removed). Temporary tabs, (defined as Post-It notes, or other tabs that may be removed without tearing the page) are not allowed and must be removed from the reference before the exam will begin. Any loose leaf NEC code books, such as, spiralbound or ring bound copies, will NOT be allowed in the test center. Scratch paper will be provided. Candidates will NOT be permitted to remove from the examination room ANY material that has been written on. (This would include books).

Any bound edition of the National Electrical Code® may be used for the examination. However, the examination questions are based on the 2014 bound edition. The NEC HANDBOOK is not allowed in the examination room.  (((AS OF OCTOBER 1, 2017, THE EXAM WILL BE BASED ON THE 2017 NEC BOOK)
