If you're planning to take the PSI Exam for electricians in Texas, then you'll need to have a solid understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC). In particular, you'll need to have a good grasp of the NEC requirements for electrical equipment and devices. This includes switches, receptacles, and panels.

Article 402
Article 402 of the NEC covers the requirements for fixtures and appliances, including luminaires (light fixtures), appliances, and equipment. You will find information on installation requirements for these devices. You'll also have your specific safety considerations to keep in mind when working with them.
Article 404
Article 404 covers the requirements for switches, including both general use switches and dimmer switches. This article outlines the minimum spacing requirements for switches. Article 408
Article 408 covers the requirements for panelboards, including the types of panelboards that are allowed and the minimum clearances required around them. This article also covers circuit breakers, fuses, and panelboard circuit labeling.
When studying for the PSI Exam, it's important to pay close attention to these articles and to understand the specific requirements for each type of electrical equipment and devices.
Here are a few key points to keep in mind for Electrical Equipment and Devices:
Luminaires (light fixtures) must be installed in a manner that ensures they won't fall or become loose. They must also be designed to protect against accidental contact with live parts.
Appliances must be installed in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions and must be located in areas that are easily accessible for maintenance.
General use switches must be installed so that the switch handle is mounted between 3 and 6 feet above the floor. Dimmer switches must be identified as such and must be rated for the type of load they will be controlling.
Panelboards must be installed in a location that allows for proper ventilation and must have at least 30 inches of clearance in front of them. They must also be grounded and bonded, and must be labeled to indicate the circuits they control.
In addition to these specific requirements for electrical equipment and devices, you'll also need to have a good understanding of electrical theory, safety considerations, and NEC requirements in general.
