You can study load calculation rules all day, but if you do not practice them the right way, exam questions will still trip you up.
Load calculations on the NEC exam are rooted in Article 220, where you combine lighting, receptacles, fixed appliances, and HVAC loads into one number you can size conductors and services from. On exam day you do not guess, you calculate.
